BMW expands in the parking services field through Parkmobile purchase

Parkmobile reaches a total of more than 22 million customers in over 1000 cities in Europe and North America

The BMW Group has acquired this same month Parkmobile, LLC, the largest provider of mobile parking services in North America. This purchase makes of BMW Group a leading international provider of digital parking solutions.
The acquisition is framed into BMW’s NUMBER ONE > NEXT strategy, aimed to transform the brand from one just operating in the car manufacturing sector into a true provider of mobility services.

The service can be used by all drivers no matter the car brand they use. It enables ticketless and cashless on-street parking through its mobile app or directly from the car. The service also helps users find, reserve and pay for off-street parking in garages as well as other transit related services.

BMW Group holds a minority stake in Parkmobile, LLC since 2014 and now has acquired the 100% of this company headquartered in Atlanta (Georgia, USA) with its over 100 employees. Parkmobile, LLC offers its service in more than 300 US cities including New York, Philadelphia and Phoenix. Its European branch, Parkmobile Group Europe, who operates as well the ParkNow brand, is a company wholly owned by the BMW Group since April 2016.

Digital parking solutions can reduce car traffic looking for parking, thus contributing to lower green house emissions the cities, where these services are available.
