At IVP, we view augmented reality as a form factor that has the potential to be even more disruptive than the initial wave of mobile in terms of how consumers engage with technology. While we are several steps of technological development away, Niantic has stepped into the forefront of AR development and has the opportunity to create a technology standard. IVP couldn\u2019t be more excited to partner with John Hanke and the entire Niantic team to continue bringing the world together through AR.\u00bb<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Two years of strategical purchases and partnerships<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Leaving aside new developments 2017 and 2018 have been two years of strategical acquisitions and partnerships for Niantic.<\/p>\n<p>In November 2017, it was announced that Niantic acquired Evertoon, an app which allows users to make short, personalized films. The movement pointed at helping build social systems.<\/p>\n<p>In June 2018, Niantic announced the acquisition of computer vision and machine learning company Matrix Mill.
