Steve Chen, Co-Founder of YouTube, and\u00a0Vijay Karunamurthy, former engineering lead for YouTube presented at SXSW Nom, a new, live, interactive video platform.
\nNom users will be able to direct, produce and host their own food show, including: a rich media tray that allows recorded video, photos or GIFs to be shared in a live broadcast; the ability to interact and collaborate directly with an audience through a no-delay 2-way chat, including photos and video questions; a tool to use multiple cameras during a broadcast (for example, having one camera on a host and another in a close-up of technique)<\/p>\n

Viewers can learn from their favorite chefs, brewmasters, grillmasters, baristas or bloggers, and interact directly with them as they stream live. Through Nom channels, viewers can ask questions, explore answers, and discover together.<\/p>\n

Under a dozen people, based in\u00a0San Francisco\u00a0and\u00a0Palo Alto, are currently making Nom run, including Steve Chen, Nom Co-Founder and CTO at Nom and Vijay Karunamurthy, Nom Co-Founder and CEO of the company.<\/p>\n

Nom received\u00a0$4.7M\u00a0in Series A funding, including support from Blue Run Ventures, WI Harper Group, Khosla Ventures, SV Angel, and personal investments from YouTube sensation PSY, actor\u00a0Jared Leto, 3-Star Michelin\u00a0chefCorey Lee, and American restaurateur\u00a0Ming Tsai.<\/p>\n

Three starred Michelin chefs and The James Beard Foundation already at Nom<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Chefs and personalities already launching channels on Nom include 3-star Michelin chef\u00a0Corey Lee\u00a0and Master Sommelier Yoon Ha of Benu in\u00a0San Francisco, Pastry Chef\u00a0Joanne Chang,\u00a0Tim Hollingsworth\u00a0of Otium in downtown\u00a0Los Angeles,\u00a0Hubert Keller\u00a0in\u00a0Las Vegas, and Michael Tusk of Quince in\u00a0San Francisco.<\/p>\n

Nom will also be a key partner for live culinary events. In ffact, The James Beard Foundation live broadcasted the announcement of the 2016 James Beard Award Nominees on their Nom channel on\u00a0Tuesday, March 15th.<\/p>\n
