Marriott International, one of the leading hotel chains worldwide, launched yesterday hand in hand with Hostmaker a “home sharing” service.
Marriott and Hostmaker currently offers 200 houses and flats in London that have been jointly selected by the startup and the hotel chain.
The agreement is a pilot test that will last until October. Depending on different variables such as customer satisfaction and the economic impact of the business model, Marriott eyes expansion in other European cities, such as Barcelona, Madrid, Rome, Paris, Lisbon, Florence or Cannes.
At the sgning of the agreement, Hostmaker’s CEO, Nakul Sharma, said that the main reasons why Marriott International has chosen Hostmaker are the high standards of security and services, care in the design and accessibility of the selected apartments, as well as the maximum attention the company payus to the reception of guests and the assistance of the local teams 24 hours during 7 days a week.
Sharma underscored also, “homes that do not meet our criteria are not taken into consideration”, and pointed, “at the same time we offer owners a service able to improving their apartment. None of our competitors does the same, offering design to improve. ”
Marriott has chosen Hostmaker, says Adam Malamut (Account Manager at Marriott International) due to Nakul Sharma’s experience in the hospitality industry. He has been Hotel Manager in the InterContinental chain and in Starwood. Also because Hostmaker has been recognized as a finalist in Marriott’s travel and tourism experience-incubator program, Accenture and the 1776 accelerator.
“We take into account the careful attention they pay, if we add Hostmaker’s know-how to our experience, we can offer not only an exclusive apartment, but an exclusive experience from the beginning to the end of the stay,” Malamut emphasized.
Marriot has opted for an already operational brand, such as Hostmaker, and its real estate portfolio, through the web www.TributePortfolioHomes.com. In this website, clients will also find the chence to book their stay at 28 Marriot International hotels.
With presence in Barcelona, Madrid, London, Paris, Rome, Lisbon, Florence and Cannes, Hostmaker also offers a service to strategically positioning the properties in the different booking platforms. The startup also manages price and ratios of occupation, approval and communication with the guests. It makes possible to arrange concierge , cleaning and linen services, laundry, interior design, professional photography, and maintenance and pricing advice. Hostmaker currently services more than 1,500 properties throughout Europe.
