First electric jaguar ever also a first in fast recharge

Jaguar’s all-electric I-PACE will deliver both rapid charging and rapid performance when it goes on sale on 1st March 2018, even under extreme cold conditions.

The I-PACE will be capable of charging from zero to 80 per cent charge in 45 minutes, using a DC 100kW charger the time charge extends to the 90 minutes with a 50kW DC rapid charger.

Followng the information provided by Jaguar, the I-PACE model is an an all wheel drive, 400PS, 5 seater model.
With an autonomy range of over 500km, this means for the average user that the car needs recharging just once a week. It achieves 0-60mph (0-100km/h) in around 4 seconds.

Customers will be able to use mains power to prepare the car’s battery and cabin temperature ahead of a journey. Pre-conditioning the car ensures maximum range, performance and comfort whether temperatures are freezing cold or extremely hot.

Setting up preferred charging times and pre-conditioning schedules can be done from either the on-board InControl system, or the Remote smartphone APP, and is as easy as setting an alarm.

The vehicle sets as well a first in design features for Jaguar models,as they are needed and enabled by the electric tech used in the car.

The liquid-cooled 90kWh Lithium-ion battery uses the latest pouch cells, chosen because of their high energy density and excellent thermal management. It is positioned as low down as
possible and right between the axles, dropping the centre of gravity and improving vehicle agility.

The I-PACE is equipped by a sophisticated management battery system. This control unit is key to the I-PACE Concept’s
performance and range by ensuring that the battery operates at optimum efficiency under all conditions.

The I-PACE Concept features two, extremely efficient, synchronous permanent magnet motors arranged concentrically with the transmission to make them as compact as possible. Integrated into the front and rear axles, the two electric motors deliver a total output of 400PS and 700Nm – and high
performance all-wheel drive.

Ian Hoban, Jaguar vehicle line director, says, “Not only will the I-PACE charge quickly enough for our customers to carry out their everyday lives, it will offer powerful and precise performance in a variety of conditions and climactic extremes. Allied with the versatile credentials of our celebrated PACE family, this will be an electric performance SUV like no other.”

The I-PACE will be revealed in a live global broadcast on 19:00 CET on March 1, 2018, and will go on to make its public premiere at the Geneva Motor Show on March 6, 2018.

Meanwhile, you can experience a I-PACE ride on ice at the Jaguar Ice Academy in Sweden. Jaguar also accepts pre reservations to purchase its first electric model.
