LaLiga is the first foreign professional football competition that has an official account in the social network VKontakte.

Following the data announced by Mail.Ru Group (the owner of VKontakte) VK Messenger for Mobile and Desktop reached a daily target audience of 82 million active users per month by the end of 2016, with the total number of UK users breaking even the record of 95 million monthly active users.

Thanks to this platform, LaLiga will offer its fans the chance to following more closely all the news of the Spanish competition through news about LaLiga, as well as videos, photos, interviews with the players, summaries and analysis of the matches, as well as other exclusive contents.

“LaLiga is the sports show with the widest television coverage in the world that brings excitement to millions of fans every week. We are fully committed to our followers from all over the world and we want to be as close as possible to them, “said Javier Tebas, President of LaLiga.

Dmitry Sergeev, First Deputy Chief Executive at Mail.ru, explained: “It is a great pleasure to welcome the official LaLiga community to our social network. Millions of VK users follow communities dedicated to their favorite Spanish soccer clubs and the players of this competition have been on the list of the most popular people in VK posts and comments for several years. We are confident that this is just the beginning of a great collaboration and our users can expect many exclusive content from now on. ”

This partnership will boost LaLiga’s brand awareness in Russia, which is an important step for the organization. “There are a lot of LaLiga fans in Russia and we think there are many more Russians who have not yet discovered the emotion of LaLiga. Thanks to our new presence in VK, we intend to be closer to the fans that we already have, and also give the opportunity to others to know more about LaLiga in their own language and to enjoy the passion of competition inside and outside the playgrounds, “explained Alfredo Bermejo, director of Digital Strategy at LaLiga.
