Read merges Wunderman and JWT to create the new Wunderman Thompson

Just some months after merging Y&R and VML into the new agency VMLY&R, WPP CEO Mark Read takes a new step in his plan to transform WPP agencies into creative+tech companies delivering what clients demand and need nowadays.
Today the Group launches second creative-digital tech merger in a row announcig that of JWT and Wunderman to form the new Wundrman Thompson agency.

The newly formed agency will be led by Global Chief Executive Officer Mel Edwards, who is currently the Global CEO of Wunderman. Tamara Ingram, CEO of J. Walter Thompson, will become Chairman.

Wunderman and J. Walter Thompson share many core clients, who will now have simpler access to the expertise of both agencies. And, as technology reshapes marketing, Wunderman Thompson will also capitalise on close and long-standing partnerships with Adobe, Amazon, Google, IBM, Microsoft, Salesforce and SAP.

Wunderman Thompson will will employ 20,000 people in 90 markets. It will be fully operational in early 2019.
