Twentieth Century Fox Film (TCFF) Chairman and CEO Stacey Snider today announced that long-time studio executive Emma Watts has been elevated to the role of Vice Chairman of TCFF and Twentieth Century Fox (TCF) President of Production.
Watts, who has served as President of Production for TCF since 2007, will continue to report to Snider. Her appointment is effective immediately.
Fox Searchlight Pictures and Fox 2000 will continue to report to Stacey Snider, as will the studio’s Marketing, Distribution and other functional departments.
Fox Animation will continue to be led by its President, Vanessa Morrison, who will now co-report to Snider and to Watts, and Fox International Productions President Tomas Jegeus will now co-report to Ms. Watts and Andrew Cripps, the studio’s President of International Distribution.
Watts will now oversee a restructured group that brings together all of TCF’s filmmaking assets, adding physical production, post production, visual effects and music to her ongoing leadership of the studio’s production, story, creative affairs and casting departments.
Working at Fox since 1997
Emma Watts first joined Fox in 1997, following stints as a creative executive first with Russell Simmons’ Def Jam Pictures and later for Oliver Stone. Her tenure at Fox has encompassed over 100 movies, and she has led production and development efforts for some of the world’s most beloved, critically-acclaimed and commercially successful films, including Avatar, Deadpool, Gone Girl and The Martian, among others. She also led reboots of massive franchises like The Planet of the Apes and X-Men, while spearheading new franchises, such as Night at the Museum, Kingsman and The Maze Runner.
In 2005, Watts was named EVP of Production for TCF and she has served as President of Production since 2007. TCF upcoming films include Logan, Alien: Covenant, War for the Planet of the Apes, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Red Sparrow, Murder on the Orient Express and The Greatest Showman.
