Some few days ago Google announced its new developments to connect brick and mortar sales with search and now Placed, a startup devoted to measure the offline effectiveness of advertising across multiple platforms and publishers through mobile location announces that it has been purchased by Snap Inc.
In a blog post published last 5th June David Sim (Founder and CEO), said: “Over the past 12 months, Placed has measured more than $500 million in media spend to store visits, across thousands of campaigns and hundreds of partners, cementing Placed as the leader in location-based attribution.
By partnering with Snap, we will do even more. Still working independently, Placed’s goal continues to be the adoption of a common yardstick that can measure the offline effectiveness of advertising across multiple platforms and publishers.”
Established in January 2011 and headquartered in Seattle, Placed is able to index the real-world paths and behaviors of consumers directly measuring locations through smartphones and leveraging big data principles.
Placed practices and preaches an opt-in, aggregated, and non-ad targeted based approach to location measurement to fully respect conumers privacy.
The start up is baked by Madrona Venture Group and Two Sigma Ventures
On 8th August 2016, this company focused on location driven insights and ad to store attribution, announced it had measured the online and offline behavior of nearly 2 million double opt-in users to connect Snapchat users to offline store visits.
On 21st April 2015 Placed announced DataXu, RUN, and The Trade Desk join Adelphic and StrikeAd as previously announced DSPs integrated with Placed. With the addition of these partners, Placed firmly established itself as a sort of standard currency to measure the impact of programmatic advertising to store visits. The new DSP partners added to Drawbridge, TapJoy, and Vistar Media and followed the decision by the US top media agencies, including IPG Mediabrands, DigitasLBi, Horizon, Crossmedia, Southwest Media Group, and Essence, to select Placed Attribution as the preferred digital to in-store measurement solution.
