WARC Awards 2018, now open for entries

The WARC Awards 2018, an annual international case-study competition in search of the smartest campaigns that best use emerging marketing disciplines, is now open for entries.

The WARC Awards are free to enter and are open to submissions from any country and communications discipline. Work can be registered into four categories, each one with its own high calibre judging panel and set of Special Awards.
Entry deadline is 12th February 2018.

$7,000 Grand Prix

Entries ar free and leaving aside the reputation to be earned as a WARC Award winner there is a $40,000 prize fund for the winning papers, spread across the four categories. The top entries will be awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze awards.

The Grand Prix for the best overall paper in each category will receive $7,000 and three Special Awards in each category, recognising specific areas of excellence, will be presented with $1,000.

Jury full of first line advertisers

Claudia Willvonseder (CMO, IKEA) will chair the jury in the Effective Use of Brand Purpose category.
Christopher Yu (Vice President, Integrated Marketing Strategy Innovation, and Technology, U.S. Bank) is chairing the Effective Innovation category.

Elizabeth Windram (Director, Brand and Advertising, JetBlue Airways) will head the Effective Social Strategy jury
And John Dokes (Global Chief Marketing Officer and General Manager, AccuWeather Network) is leading the jury in the Effective Content Strategy category.

The four categories

In the Best Use of Brand Purpose category They are recognised marketing initiatives that have successfully embraced a brand purpose and achieved commercial success as well as a benefit for a wider community.

Whirlpool won the Warc Grand Prix 2017 in Best Use of Brand Purpose by the work by DigitasLBi. The Awards in the Effective Innovation category recognises innovative thinking that has transformed a business or disrupted category conventions to deliver tangible results.

Toyota won the Warc Grand Prix 2017 Effective Innovation category thanks to the work by Saatchi & Saatchi. Toyota decided to turn its LandCruisers into roaming communications hotspots by installing signal-providing devices. The Effective Social Strategy searchs for the most effective campaigns that link social strategy to business success.

KFC got the Warc 2017 Grand Prix in Effective Social Media Strategy thanks to the clean burger fake by Bartle Bogle Hegarty London.
KFC created a humorous fake ‘clean eating’ campaign shared on social media, YouTube and blogs to “make clean bad” and market its new Dirty Louisiana burger. The Dirty Louisiana became one of KFC’s fastest selling burgers, selling out in 70% of stores after three weeks. Image © KFC

In the Effective Content Strategy, they are rewarded branded content strategies that can demonstrate an outstanding business outcome.
