Ogilvy China announced thatf Chee Guan Yue, previously Chief Creative Officer of Dentsu Shanghai, is joining Ogilvy Shanghai as Group ExecutiveCreative Director (ECD). Chee Guan will directly report to Graham Fink, Chief Creative Officer, Ogilvy China.

Our clients want and deserve more senior creative leadership that can seamlessly work across domains of expertise and tackle our clients’ most vexing business challenges. In our new client-centric structure, we need great conceptual thinkers with the ability to navigate the modern marketing landscape and conduct an orchestra of specialists. Chee Guan very much fits this vision…,” Debby Cheung, President of Ogilvy Shanghai said.
Chee Guan will be partnering with the current ECDs, Thomas Zhu and Darren Crawforth, to share client responsibility in Shanghai. As Ogilvy China is moving towards an integrated structure, the joining of Chee Guan will strengthen its creative firepower in Shanghai while putting more senior creative leadership on clients in need.
Creative hire after restructuring of the Asia Pacific leading team
Chee Guan’s hire follows the restructuring of O’gilvy’s Asia-Pacific leading team in May 2016.
Paul Heath, who was CEO & Chairman of O&M Asia Pacific, took up a new role as Worldwide Executive Director, Chief Growth Officer reporting to Worldwide CEO John Seifert.

Heath continued as Chairman for Asia Pacific and joined the Board of the newly formed WPP AUNZ (the result of the recent merger between WPP and STW covering Australia and New Zealand).
Chris Reitermann, who was CEO of Ogilvy China and Kent Wertime, Chief Operating Officer of Asia Pacific were appointed co-CEOs of the region.
Jerry Smith, till that time Regional President, OgilvyOne Asia Pacific, took over Wertime’s role as Chief Operating Officer of O&M Asia Pacific.

Chee Guan Yue has over 23 years’ experience in the industry. He has worked on accounts across the FMCG, retail, finance, automobile, travel & tourism sectors. Chee Guan is also a widely recognised professional whose work has won numerous awards at Cannes, Spikes, One Show, Clio, D&AD, LIA, and many other festivals.

Among the creative community, Chee Guan is reputed as a seasoned leader that young creatives desire to work with, as he has demonstrated the power to bring people together and boost creative fire.
