Dentsu estimates that some 997 mistakes in the insertions, reporting and invoicing to their clients for digital advertising in Japan, which happened between November 1st, 2012 and July 31st, 2016, have caused them economic dammages amounting to Yen 114.82 million.
There were detected four types of mistakes: reports presenting incorrect total posting volumes; reports with incorrect posting details; daily reports not sent to the client; reports with incorrect posting details; no repor on a daily basis to clients and omissions causing invoicing inaccuracies.

An in-house committee, that the agency established on August 15th, 2016 has completed its evaluation of data of around 214,000 invoices issued for digital advertising services in Japan between November 1st, 2012 and July 31st, 2016.
Dentsu has offered sincere apologies for the great concern and trouble that this matter has caused its advertisers,

shareholders and other stakeholders and advances that is taking measures to prevent recurrence on the mistakes detected.
Dentsu’s President announced intention to resign
Before publishing these data on inaccuracies related to digital advertising services and while trying to implant new guidelines for work hours after an employee commited suiccide some months ago, Dentsu President & CEO, Tadashi Ishii, announced on last 28th December he will resign as Representative Director and President & CEO at the conclusion of Dentsu’s board meeting to be held in January 2017.
The Japanese agency advanced on the communication on Dentsu’s President resignation that a successor Representative Director and President & CEO will be appointed at the same board meeting and then announced immediately after concluded.
