JCDecaux, to increase its participation in Metrobus

JCDecaux and Publicis Groupe jointly unveiled today that they have entered into exclusive negotiations aimed to an eventual increase of JCDecaux’ 33% participation in Metrobus.
Metrobus is the parent company of of Mediagare, Mediarail, Média Transports and SMPA.
JCDecaux holds this 33% stake in the capital equity of Metrobus since 2005.

Both multinationals underscore that the relevant employee representative bodies will be consulted before any final agreement is signed. The operation is also subject to standard conditions precedent, including approval by the French Competition Authority.

This announcement comes on the heels of the acquisition of CEMUSA by JCDecaux before the end of this same month.

Established in 1949 as a 50% joint venture between Havas and Publicis to manage the ad spaces in the RATP, Publicis becomes the only owner of the company in 1997.
After JCDecaux acquired the 33% of the company it gained the contract to manage the ad spaces for the SNCF in 2008.
The establishment of Media Transports and two contract renovations (the agreement with RATP and RTM and TAN -Bus and tramway of Nantes-) came later in 2011 and 2012.
Currently Metrobus manages 60,000 faces and more than 10 formats in Paris underground and 43,000 faces and 8 formats in buses.
