Netflix names new CMO in scarcely one year.- Jackie Lee Joe replaced by Bozoma Saint John

Bozoma Saint John leaves her position as CMO at William Morris Endeavor to succeed former BBC CMO, Jackie Lee Joe as CMO of Netflix.
Lee had been hired by Netflix for the CMO position escarcely a year ago, on July 2019.

Saint John led PepsiCo’s foray into music festival-based marketing while she worked as head of the Music and Entertainment Marketing.

She remained with the company for nearly 10 years before joining Beats Music in 2014. After Beats was purchased by Apple on June 6, 2017, she turned into the head of global consumer marketing for iTunes and Apple Music.

Then Saint John became Chief Brand Officer at Uber. There she undertook the responsibility of turning Uber into a brand that people love as much as Apple, but she moved again because as she said: ” “When I got to Uber I was honest in my desire to go and change essentially what I thought was a challenging environment, especially for women and for people of colour…What I discovered was a lot of people who had a desire to do better, honestly, but couldn’t get out of their own way…At some point it became too overwhelming for me…It became a good lesson for all of us: You don’t need to be the savior, you can save yourself too.”
In June 2018, Saint John left Uber to join William Morris Endeavor as Chief Marketing Officer.

After college, Saint John worked at the advertising agencies Arnold Worldwide and Spike Lee’s Spike DDB, as well as the fashion brand Ashley Stewart, where she was Vice President of Marketing.

She married Peter Saint John and she was his wife till he died in 2013. Now she is also devoted to motheringLael Sait John her daughter. In fact Bozoma Saint John considers this task as her greatest accomplishment, even over her professional success.

Among other recognitions Bozoma Saint John has been considered Top Woman in Music and Female Executive of the Year by Billboard magazine; she was included in Fortune’s list 40 Under 40 and tagged as one of Fortune’s Disruptors. She is one of the Ad Age’s 100 Most Creative People of Fast Company and one of the 50 Most Creative People & Stars 40 under 40 .
