GroupM’s Essence agency expands in China Australia and USA

Essence, a global digital agency belonging to GroupM announced it has established three new offices: one in The Americas via Chicago, Illinois, and two in Asia Pacific via Shanghai, China and Sydney, Australia. These are the first locations the that Essence adds following WPP’s acquisition of the agency in November 2015.

All three locations are being staffed by Essence veterans who have relocated from the New York, San Francisco and London offices, and each is engaging in an aggressive external recruitment effort to hire local talent, as well.

The expansion is a result of increasing client demands following a slew of global new business wins, and is being supported by the reach and infrastructure of GroupM.

Eric Kirtcheff, global director of advertising operations will head Essence’s office at Chicago. Anna Stoyanova, Asia Pacific operations director and head of media for Australia will lead the new location at Sydney and Al Chen, client partner will become the leader for Essence’s Shanghai office.

Google, Viber, method, Tesco Mobile and the Financial Times are some of the clients of Essence. The agency already employs over 540 people, manages more than $850 million in media spend and deploys campaigns in 71 markets through its offices in Chicago, London, New York, San Francisco, Seattle, Shanghai, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo.
