Dentsu announced today that Dentsu-Aegis Network has signed an agreement with the main shareholders of the digital marketing performance agency Darwin Marketing Limited to purchase the company.
Established in 2006 and pioneering the digital advertising era in China, Darwin was one of the first digital agencies to set up operations in this Asian country.
Search engine marketing (SEM) and other digital advertising services in the performance domain as well as word-of-mouth advertising using social media compose among others the roster of Darwin’s advanced services, which have earned the agency a high reputation not only among local companies but also a large number of global clients.
Darwin will be integrated with digital performance agency iProspect, one of the Dentsu Group’s nine global network brands, and will work with other Group companies in China to create synergies. This acquisition rises the number of search and performance specialists working at Dentsu Aegis network in China to 150, strengthening the operation in this Asian country.
At the time of the purchase by Dentsu-Aegis, TR Harrington (CEO) and Kenneth Cheung (Vice President of Operations) were respedctively CEO and Vice President Operations Darwing. Nothing has been said on any changes in the leading executive team of the agency after the operation.
Darwin posted around CNY 18.5 million revenues for the fiscal year ending in December 2014.
