Professionals from 40 countries have been confirmed as juries across all of the Cannes Lions categories.
This year of the total of 387 juries, a 40% are women, a significant increase on last year’s 31.5% and a record number for the Festival.
The proportion of women juries to decide the winner of the Glass Lion goes far beyond the 40% to the point that just two juries are men.
Also known as The Lion for Change this award recognises the merit of ideas intended to change the world; of the creative work which sets out to positively impact ingrained gender inequality, imbalance or injustice.There is also a majority of women juries in the PR cathegory.
Philip Thomas, CEO, Lions Festivals, highlighted the importance of putting together balanced juries to ensure fair judging of the awards, while adding that the juries had a ‘significant responsibility in determining the future path of creative communications’.
Cannes Lions will be held from 18-25 June in Cannes (France). The International festival of Creativity incorporates three specialist events: Lions Health, Lions Innovation and Lions Entertainment.
