The International Festival of Creativity, Cannes Lions, has decided to open the deadline to register pieces for its 2020 edition earlier than it is used to.
With the celebration of the festival canceled in 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the next edition of the Awards will be held in Cannes next June, if COVID allows it.
The jury will not only award the prizes corresponding to the current year (2021) but also those corresponding to 2020. Although the pieces and awards from both editions will be judged and awarded separately.
New Lion, new online application and two Lion updates: Creative Effectiveness and PR
Ascential has also announced the launch of a new Leon: Creative Business Transformation. With it, the Festival aims to recognize the merit of creativity that drives the business forward, and creative thinking that changes the organization of the business, how workers work within the company and how customers are captured, loyal and attracted.

The Festival will also launch this year a new written online process for submitting applications.
Cannes Lions has updated as well the Creative Effectiveness Lion for 2021 to ensure that the award accurately reflects the new language of effectiveness, the variety of measurable results, and the breadth of work that drives business impact and commercial success.
The Festival organizers have also refreshed the PR Lions to ensure that the award accurately represents the current public relations industry. Cannes Lions conducted a deep research among public relations specialists globally to better understand their unique challenges and perspectives to ensure the PR Lions focus on the areas of creative work for which the industry wants to be recognized today.
