Surfing this morning the social networks, I bumped into a happy jumping boxer called Buster, the canine star of John Lewis Christmas campaign and a naughty horde of cats, those with no name, causing an actual Chistmas mess for the Mars pet food brand called Temptations.
Two Christmas works with pets inside by the adam&eveDDB agency that surely wil make everybody laugh before, during and after Christmas time.
#BusterTheBoxer, tender fun for all tastes
Definetly anyone but an animal hater will love Buster the jumper boxer. The pet is the central face in adam&eve’s Christmas campaign for the retailer John Lewis.

But the dog is not the only “little beast” enjoying the trampoline bought at the retailer.
Two foxes, a badger, a squirrel, and a hedgehog also use Bridget’s perfect gift for “jump and fun”.
Simpathetic and touching story directed by Dougal Wilson again
Craig Inglis, Customer Director at John Lewis said; “2016 has certainly been quite a year, so we hope our advert will make people smile. It really embraces a sense of fun and magic, reminding everyone what it feels to give the perfect gift at Christmas.

The advert tells the story of a little girl called Bridget who loves to jump. Her Mum and Dad buy her a trampoline for Christmas and hide it in the garden to surprise her with on Christmas Day. However, after dark, in a magical world observed only by Buster, a cast of wildlife animals emerges, two foxes, a badger, a squirrel, and a hedgehog. They discover the trampoline and have fun jumping.
On Christmas morning, Bridget excitedly runs out into the garden to discover her present however Buster bounds past her and starts bouncing on her trampoline. She watches Buster’s jumping and having fun wide-eyed.

Buster the Boxer has been created by the advertising agency adam&eveDDB with media planning and buying by Manning Gottlieb OMD.
The tv ad has been directed by Dougal Wilson who also directed three previous John Lewis Christmas adverts including 2011’s The Long Wait, 2012’s The Journey, and 2014’s ‘Monty’s Christmas’. In Monty’s Chistmas ad the starring “beast” was a playful and adorable penguin.
Well chosen sound track
A cover version of the song ‘One Day I’ll Fly Away’, recorded by the British band Vaults, wraps up the heartwarming story of Buster the boxer, Bridget, her parents, the wild playful animals and the trampoline.
As well chosen as the, ‘Real Love’ theme, sung by Tom Odell and originally written and recorded by John Lennon, the sound track inside Monty’s Christmas ad.
Besides the TV ad: VR , Snapchat and Twitter stickers
John Lewis flagship shop at Oxford Street will offer an exciting virtual reality experience using Oculus Rift bringing into life the magical world of Buster and his friends. There will also be a 360 film experience available using Google Cardboard in Oxford Street and accessible on JL.com and YouTube.
John Lewis is partnering with Snapchat for the first time to create a bespoke Snapchat lense. The lense, which is available until midnight tonight, transforms users into Buster the Dog.

In December all through, customers visiting any of John Lewis’s 48 shops will also be able to apply a Snapchat filter to any of their pictures taken while in the store.
Until Sunday 13 November, customers will also be able to use bespoke Twitter stickers so they can personalise their own photos with Buster and his friends.
Exclusive partnership with Sky
Another first for John Lewis, this year, in a unique partnership with Sky, they will be available, in addition to the advert, a ‘making of the ad’ film and bespoke content about British Wildlife, presented by Wildlife TV presenter Patrick Aryee. All these contents will be exclusively available to Sky’s 12 million customers via the On Demand homepage and Sky Go.
For good
“Each year we work with a charity which fits our ad, and we hope this year’s campaign will encourage more children to discover a love of British wildlife and encourage support of The Wildlife Trusts.”
John Lewis will make a donation to The Wildlife Trusts from the sale of soft toys of the characters which feature in the advert. The retailer has also worked with the charity on a number of fun, educational tools which will be available online, to encourage more children to develop an interest in British wildlife.

Commenting on the charity partnership, Stephanie Hilborne OBE, Chief Executive, The Wildlife Trusts said; “The Wildlife Trusts believe that everyone should have the opportunity to experience the joy of wildlife and wild places in their daily lives. So John Lewis putting some of our most beautiful British wild animals at the centre of their Christmas advert and making The Wildlife Trusts their charity of choice this Christmas is great news. With this support we will be able to inspire thousands more children about the wonders of the natural world.”
Pet treat to avoid Christmas cat mess
Cats also like Christmas treats, so keep your kittens busy “treat them too” with Temptations. This is the message of the TV ad signed by adam&eve for Temtations, the food treats brand for cats.

The action shows a laboratory experiment like environment. With lots of Christmas decor objects, toys, lights and suculent food treats placed in the middle of a white room, surrounded by a number of little closed gates on the walls.
A transparent door closes each gate. There’s a cat staring at the treats and Christmas lights through each gate window there is a cat. As soon as the gate opens it starts off the kitten “fun”. But they stop and return back to the gates when listten to the sound of a bag of temtations treats.

The advert has all the ingredients to become a viral success. There are cats and kittens, which are loved in social networks. Further, they leave the room in a total mess after “playing” with all the sparkling and moving objects they can find. More than smile the ad can make anyone really laugh.
The work, also signed by adam&eveDDB fits very well in the viral communications line of a brand that does not sell pet food but nutritious fun for cats.
The Christmas advert by adam&eve is a new content under Temptations’ #TreatThemToo campaign claim.

Temptations usually publish funny ads with cats inside to showcase its products on You Tube. These videos are included in the Cat Videos section of the Temptation’s website.
