IBM has embarked Watson in two VR projects. One, in collaboration with an Spanish startup called Rectangular Studios and the other one in Japan will bring a more natural interactive VR experience to the popular anime series Sword Art Online.
The project to be developed in Spain and the other one at Japan aim both to allow the VR game users to naturally interact with the game avatars. Now the chance to interact is limited to several pre fixed options.

While the spanish game is till in the early stages of design and just some few features have been unveiled on the Rectangular Studios developments, the tale of Sword Art Online is well known for the audience.
Further more, the teaser video already published in You Tube for the Japanese game features a “cognitive system” supporting the decision-making of the characters and SoftLayer (IBM’s cloud infrastructure). An Alpha test of the game has been announced to be held in March.
Rectangular Studios showcased a VR experience for IBM framed into the 4YFN, the event for sartups held in Barcelona within the Mobile World Congress 2016 program.
A Hologram of Watson, the IBM’s self learning artificial intelligence able to intereact with humans in natural human terms, and two Samsung Gear VR headsets showed how this technology works to more than 500 visitors during the 3 day congress.
