Leo Burnett announced this way on Twitter that the world acclaimed creative Mark Tutssel, since 2018 Worldwide Executive Chairman Leo Burnett, will retire after almost 34 years working in this agency belonging to the Publicis Groupe.
“More than 600 Cannes Lions, including 9 Grand Prix, plus countless D&AD, Clio, LIA, One Show, ADC and even a couple of Emmy Awards. Congratulations to Mark Tutssel on a well-earned retirement.”
This of Tutssel will the second big loss for the ad industry this year, just some months after the love letter to advertising was published by the also retiring Lee Clow (TBWA\Media Arts Lab Chairman).
Under Tutssel’s leadership as global chief creative officer, Leo Burnett has developed world-class campaigns for some of the most iconic brands and helped Samsung, McDonald’s and Coca-Cola earn the prestigious “Cannes Lions Creative Marketer of the Year” award. His work has helped the agency win nine Grand Prix at Cannes and consistently rank in the top five most-awarded agency networks in the world.
During his 2018 and 2019 tenure as Executive Chairman, Leo Burnett has experienced the launch of Publicis AI Marcel a deep restructuring as well as seen a cascade of new appointments and promotions both in the tech, the client management and the creative sides of the business.
Neither Leo Burnett nor Publicis have said anything on Tutssel successor or even if the agency is looking for one, once Tutssel gets retired next Summer after cannes Lions Festival.
