The Spanish Association of Advertisers, to the rescue of TVE

Now that the European Comission has declared illegal the tax on Telcommunictions operators aproved to finance the State Spanish and Radio Television Corporation (CRTVE -the Spanish State Television-), the advertisers come to the rescue. The aea (Spanish Advertisers Association) has offered the Government €240 million to finance TVE.
The reduction of the offer of TV time for advertisement after the TVE exit of the market has driven to a great rise in the ad rates. Also to a huge ad saturation in the private channels and therefore to the lose of ad efficiency. In this context the offer from the advertisers in quite understandable.
It is neither a joke nor analtruistic action before the public, but may be it will become into an aesthetic pledge to the sun.
I don’t expect that the Spanish Government does an about- face.
Just by self respect, not to backpedal once again, the Spanish Goverment probably will search for the way to balance the CRTVE money needs though State budget financing. The already exhausted State budget, or what is the same, the purse of all Spaniard citizens.

There are other financing ”recipes”, already in force in some other countries, like the tax on use, which must be paid by TV watchers.
But I don’t think that the Spanish Government dares to impose a tax like that, it would be by any all means unpopular. This is my personal oppinion. Same as you agee or not, feel free to write yours here below.
