The United States tops the country ranking at the 2017 Epica Awards. The States took the first position with 63 recognitions including 10 golds, followed by France and the UK. Those are some of the results by country showed after the Awards Gala of the Epica 2017 held in Berlin on 16th November.
The Network of the Year was presented to McCann Worldgroup (42 awards including 1 Grand Prix and 10 Golds) and the Agency of the Year award went to BBDO New York (27 awards including 1 Grand Prix and 6 Golds). The Great Guns bagged the Production Company of the Year recognition.
In the 2017 Epica Awards there were Grand Prix winners from Canada, the United States, Poland, Germany and France.
The six Grands
In 2017 both the online jury and the on site jury bestowed six Grand Prix. One of them in Press for the German agency Scholz & Friends, thanks to the piece Newspaper Stack-Trump for Der Tagesspiegel.
Another one Grand was bestowed in the in Outdoor category to the Fearless Girl by McCann Erickson New York (USA) for State Street Global Advisors.
There were two Grands in Film. The first one bestowed to the piece English for beginners by the agency Bardzo (Warsaw -Poland-) for its e-commerce site client Allegro.
The second one Grand in Film went to BBDO New York, for Evan, a campaign conceived by this US agency for Sandy Hook Promise.
KBS Toronto (Canada) got the Grand in Design thanks to the work called Living logo for its client Innocence Canada.
And the Digital Grand Prix went to BETC Paris (France) for the campaign Like my addiction for its client Addict’Aide.
Entries down from 2016 but Asia on the rise as well as new country participants
This year Epica received 3350 entries from 71 countries, down on the previous year due to the Publicis awards withdraw and a lower participation by WPP agencies. The organsation received twice as many entries from China and Taiwan, 50% more from Malaysia and three times from Poland compared to the last edition. New entrant countries included Pakistan and Kenya.
Established 31 years ago, Epica is the only worldwide creative award judged by journalists from the marketing, design and advertising press, as well as specialist reporters in fields ranging from production to VR and luxury branding.
